Just as the title said, three more days to the year of 2007
How amazing is it? Time went by too fast.
So updates on thought and others.
Purchased items:
1. 19 inch widescreen monitor
yea, upgrades to this one. although, it is just purely for the fun of it...but definately, it looks so much better...and it is viewsonic (still wanting for the rebate)
2. jacket from Zara
nothing too fancy about this jacket. IT is just Zara, looks trendy, I like the color and the cut. And the most important thing, it is a size medium...yea, it is important because I think I lost enough fat to fit into a medium ^^
3. Nikon D50
I know it is not the latest model, but I love SLR, and definately my new one. I had a film SLR still, but digital definately rocks. Because, I can see what I just took and I don't have to worry about wasting film. Yea, i know i am crazy, but my life is going to be so much better with it now.
4. Acer notebook
I don't remember what is the model, but it is a 13inch, A4 size computer. I am so glad that i bought this computer because after we moved to the new lab with my new desk, a new lab top
definately makes my days go by way faster. And yes, i cannot live with a computer for more than an hour...unless i am traveling or something else.
School things:
1. Passed the qualify exam
First I thought that everyone will pass the qualify exam. But it turns out that is not always true. So I am very glad that I did...and don't have to redo it. So I am officially now kind of PhD in the between phase of PhD student and candidate...because I have not done my proposal yet.
2. Finishing the core course
Well, first of all, let me define what the core course is. Basically, we have eight modulus through out the course. Each modulus averagely last three to four weeks. Each modulus is basically a summary of one subject area, such as immunology, biochemistry and so on. So the amount of information is just incredible. So averagely, we have a test every two weeks or three weeks depend on the modulus. So to sum this up, I am just glad i don't have to take it ever again.
3. Denied in my proposal....reapplied in progress...postpone until next year
My first proposal was denied in June 2006 and the comments from the reviewer is kind of bad. So we were thinking about reapplied for December cycle. While I was writing it, my advisor decided that I should not apply for this cycle since I only have one chance and my GPA sucks and my idea is not exactly novel enough. So to conclude it, I am applying for the June cycle in 2007.
Thoughts:
1. Maturity
What does maturity mean? Well, as in one of my discussion with PhD fellow student, she defined as, learning to accept, but I defined as learning to ignore.
As we went on further, I said, accept the fact that you cannot change anything = ignoring the fact that whatever you do, it will not happen. So basically, become more mature, is lossing the naive in you, same as to feel less, and to do less. In another word, become more selfish...hee hee
2. Motivation in Research
Research, not only need motivation, but need "zeal." Meaning that you need to be strong-minded to gear you doing the research for your life time. Research, is something that you need to keep up with, something that you need to keep yourself motivated with. If you don't keep yourself motivated, then it is hard to keep going on with your research.
